What We Believe

What We Believe

First and foremost, we believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord, the Son of God, and future Judge of the living and the dead. We believe that he is worthy to be followed, and it is for that reason that Rose Creek Village exists and that we have come together.

We have two main beliefs that hold us together:

  1. The Gospel is "a life for a Life." Jesus Christ calls all mankind to forsake their own ways, leave their own lives, and follow him. (Luke 14:26-33)
  2. Those who hear this Gospel and obey it must serve God together as one family. (Acts 2:42-47; 1 Cor. 12:12-31; Eph. 4:11-16; Heb. 3:13)

This is the response that the early church gave to the Gospel as preached by the apostles, and we do not believe that God is looking for any different response today:

They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Acts 2:42-47, NASB

We do not believe that everyone has to live in community as we do. We do believe that everyone is called to enter the family of God, and to take care of their brothers and sisters in Christ first and foremost, even above their biological families (Gal. 6:10).

We believe that a church's beliefs are better known by the way they act than by the things written in their statement of faith. Therefore, when we are asked what it is that we believe, we generally say, "Come and see."

Nonetheless, we have created a statement of faith for those of you that are reading this on the internet.

Oh, and since there will always be rumors about any group of people who live in community—no matter how wonderful a life community is—we should point out that we believe it is important to hold to the historic Christian faith. We believe the Nicene Creed, and we believe that the Scriptures are inspired by God, are to be obeyed, and that you should examine them to see if they verify the things we teach.
